Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the effective maintenance of the 7 Brew stands, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality service delivery. The technician oversees all maintenance, repair, upkeep, and replacement operations of the coffee stand equipment, ensuring the operations teams have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to needs and budget. The ideal candidate for this role will have a firm understanding and demonstrated experience with plumbing and mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry and other maintenance trades, as well as general understanding and working knowledge of electrical systems. Additionally, this person should have the ability to undertake administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, leading meetings, etc.

 

Authority and Supervision:

  • Reports directly to the VP of Real Estate

  • No direct reports

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall maintenance activities of up to 25 7 Brew stands in a geographic region.

  • Anticipate, recognize, and assess situations quickly and organize resources to take appropriate action; develop proper maintenance procedures and ensure timely and successful implementation.

  • Develop system to track and maintain work orders; ensure work orders follow established budget, service and quality standards for completion; properly plan and oversee all repair and installation activities based on priority of work orders received; track all maintenance activity and report out on it as needed.

  • Routinely inspect facilities to identify and resolve issues; Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and perform scheduled upkeep on equipment; monitor equipment inventory, ensuring appropriate inventory levels at all times.

  • Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, ensuring ongoing efficient operations of the 7 Brew stands; schedules repairs, maintenance, and installation of equipment in coordination with stand operations to ensure projects do not interrupt operations or the guest experience, while staying on schedule and within budget.

  • Inspect 7 Brew stand electrical and hydraulic systems to ensure functionality and to perform any required maintenance.

  • Lead projects involving installation, modification, or renovation of equipment.

  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials; confer with management and internal/external stakeholders to resolve maintenance issues and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of equipment and facilities.

  • Establish and manage maintenance budget; monitor expenses and ensure all projects and maintenance needs are accounted for and are within established budgetary guidelines.

  • Determine needs of the department and work to scale the department, as necessary, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skill set.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and service providers.

  • Ensure all policies and practices are followed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; degree from a vocational school or college/university in facility management, or similar is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experience with at least 3 years of management experience, preferably in consumer products or food and beverage.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing maintenance operations.

  • Solid understanding and working aptitude of technical aspects of plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems is required.

  • Valid Driver’s License in state of residence – Travel up to 75% to coffee stands within an assigned region.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of practices and procedures of construction and building codes with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and other schematics.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills – comfortable interacting with guests, team members, vendors, etc.

  • Professional, positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Capable of working independently while also skilled at working collaboratively

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, manage multiple projects at a time, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Must be highly organized, able to problem-solve, and have extreme attention to detail

  • Ability to move from one activity to another quickly, to shift focus, and reprioritize at a moment’s notice

  • Comfortable with technology

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:

  • Prior demonstrable experience operating a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software

  • Verifiable experience operating standard office equipment including copier/scanner/printer, walkie/talkie, soft/cell phone, etc.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) preferred

  • Physical stamina to stand/walk 8 hours a day with ability to bend, squat, twist, and climb

  • Capable of maneuvering and regularly lifting and or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds, unassisted

  • Capable of safely and legally driving on a regular basis

  • Ability to handle moderate stress in a fast-paced environment while performing multiple tasks

  • Will be exposed to moderate to loud levels of noise on a consistent basis, such as those from machinery and general ambiance.

  • Work is conducted both indoors and outside; will have regularly recurring exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.

Hours of Work:

  • Extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in keeping with the schedule of the stand operations.
